The general public are being encouraged to give a huge round of applause to NHS staff on Thursday 26 March 8pm. The campaign on social media is to encourage people to #ClapForOurCarers - be it from their balcony, garden, windows or perhaps just outside your front door. See image below.

Lambeth Libraries closed

As cinemas, venues, museums etc all closed our Libraries remained open to provide their essential service to our community. However, in accordance with the Government’s announcements, all Libraries are now closed for the foreseeable future.

Helping your neighbours (Knights Hill ward area)

The W Norwood CV Mutual Aid (WhatsApp) group, formed by local residents Emma, Keira and Steve, now has over 500 volunteers. The group is ready to offer non-medical support, throughout the Knights Hill ward area:

  • Picking up shopping/medication
  • A friendly phone call
  • Posting mail
  • Delivering urgent supplies
  • Helping sort out pre-paid gas/electric top ups

during these difficult times. The leaflet below has been delivered to just about all households in the ward.

Crowdfund Lambeth: Lambeth Council support for communities during COVID-19 pandemic

During this time of crisis, Lambeth Council is working to ensure that our most vulnerable communities have the help they need. A range of measures and community support partnerships are being put in place, including using our Crowdfund Lambeth scheme to support projects tackling the impact of Covid-19 in their communities.

Rainbow Norwood

Springing up all over Norwood are rainbow pictures in the front windows of people's houses. It's thought that the rainbow trend started in Italy, but has rapidly caught on in other countries including the US, Canada, Spain and now the UK. Rainbow pictures are a brilliant and simple way to create some positivity and cheer as we all fight the spread of Coronavirus together. Why not make your own? #rainbownorwood

Norwood & Brixton Foodbank

Norwood & Brixton Foodbank urgently needs extra hands at the Warehouse to pack parcels and drivers.
It is also very likely that demand will rise over the next few weeks and months so please help support the Foodbank by volunteering or donating food.

Coronavirus Poverty Relief Grant

Martin Lewis (the Money Saving Expert) has launched a £1m fund to provide grants to small and local charities who are directly helping with the COVID-19 response.

The fund is offering grants of £5,000 to £20,000 to small registered charities, or local arms of bigger charities, across the UK who are directly helping with the COVID-19 response in terms of poverty relief. Read on for more information.

MYCommunity Lambeth

Age UK Lambeth has now rebadged their social prescribing service, launched a few months ago as Safe and Independent Living (SAIL), as MyCommunity Lambeth.  The service is now open to anyone over 18 who is in need of support. 

AgeUK provide brief-intervention, social prescribing support, allowing each person the space and time to focus on what matters to them. Each offer of support is individual and could include:
