31.10.25 Update

Thank you to all those who participated in the recent public meeting of Green Norwood, and to the 50 people who completed our online survey. We appreciate all your contributions to our planning for future initiatives and activities. It was clear from both our meeting and survey that there is a huge appetite for action to improve our green spaces, clean up our air, and promote clean energy.

Here are some of the strategies and information that came out of the meeting and survey, and to invite you to join us in future action.

We believe we have three key roles to play:
● Green Norwood should work as a bridge-builder and facilitator in bringing together people and organisations working locally on green issues; to help us be more than the sum of our parts. For example, helping friends of the parks and gardening groups share ideas and resources, helping mobilise community volunteers, and create street-level cooperation around green initiatives like community gardens and shared solar installations.
● Green Norwood can be an information exchange around everything green. For example, sharing details of reliable solar and heat pump designers and installers, sharing information and links to government support for energy improvements, and sharing community feedback with Lambeth.
● Green Norwood could, if we can secure funding in the future, act as a support mechanism, supplying small grants to local community initiatives that bring people together to pursue our shared green goals.

At the meeting we agreed that both short and long-term actions were necessary, and that "quick wins" would help build our track record and create momentum for future longer-term activities. The meeting identified a large number of possible initiatives, which we grouped under our five focus areas (see below).

The meeting also identified community organising through one-off activities such as holding a Norwood Green Day or annual “Norwood Green Awards” for community projects, or helping to facilitate a grass roots COP meeting.

We will now be formulating these ideas and initiatives into a draft plan, one which is practical and measurable. Our ability to do any of this of course depends on all of you.

Going forward, we would like to invite you to join us as we firm up our plans for green action in our community. Please feel free to reply with any feedback about the list of activities
below, and how you would like to participate. Which activities inspire you? What skills can you contribute? How much time are you ready to commit?

Alternatively, please think about coming along to one of two small discussion groups we will hold over the next few weeks. We will hold one on Saturday 15 November, 11am - 12:30pm and the other in the evening on Tuesday 18 November, 7pm - 8.30pm, to discuss, plan, and dig in to this important work. (Venues TBC - here)

Let us know if you want to be involved, would like to come to one of these meetings, or otherwise have info to share HERE!

23.09.25 Update

Our latest Green Norwood public meeting held on 23 September brought together local residents and organisations full of ideas, energy and fresh determination to make our community greener, cleaner and stronger. From green energy to air quality and local 'green' jobs, the workshop format raised an inspiring and wide range of ideas which are currently being collated by our facilitator.
Further updates and the presentation slides will be posted here very shortly.
