Lambeth Archives online talks

Lambeth Archives is repeating its successful series of online talks - every Thursday at 7pm. The following talks have been announced so far:

Big Garden Birdwatch

During lockdown, you may have been taking more notice of your surroundings, and birds are probably the most visible form of wildlife for Londoners. Read about the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, which takes place over the weekend 29/31 January 2021.

Emergency School Streets

Lambeth Council is still consulting on the introduction by Lambeth of Emergency School Streets, a scheme set up by the council to restrict vehicle access to streets around schools in the borough during pick up and drop off times. Emergency vehicles are still be able to access the road but in general road usage is deterred, including vehicles driven by parents to the school gates.

London Transport charges

The overall cost of London’s public transport costs will rise by an average of 2.6% on 1 March 2021.

Local train services

News surfaced nationally at the end of last week of cuts to be made by the government to rail services in view of the current much reduced useage during the ongoing third national lockdown. The impact of the decisions made on our local train services (Gipsy Hill, West Norwood and Tulse Hill stations) is now becomng clear. Services have been severely reduced and its not clear when they will be returned to normal, but the best guess is not before Easter at the earliest. Train services are curently provided for essential travel only.
