International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is a worldwide celebration of everyone who identifies as a woman, a chance to engage in activities and reflect on women’s successes as well as the barriers and challenges we still face in society. This year International Women’s Day is on 8 March, so look out for events being held by local organisations and groups to celebrate and raise awareness; we have listed details of some events.

Census update

60 seconds. That’s the length of time the Office for National Statistics (ONS) had to capture a group portrait of the UK, ensuring it was representative of all ages, genders, ethnicities, sexualities, abilities, social classes, professions and geographies, and reflective of everything the census stands for. It also had to set the right tone.

Lambeth Local Plan: consultation on Main Modifications

Lambeth Council reports that the Draft Revised Lambeth Local Plan (DRLLP) is currently undergoing examination by an independent planning Inspector. The Inspector has now produced a list of proposed Main Modifications to the draft Plan and the Council is required to undertake public consultation on these for six weeks.  

Local enhanced Covid-19 testing completed

Door-to-door testing in parts of West Norwood and some streets in Streatham has now been completed after a case of the Covid-19 variant first identified in South Africa was detected in the area. The project concluded on Wednesday, 24 February.

Switch off your engines

Lambeth Council is supporting the new ‘Engines Off. Every Stop’ anti-idling advertising campaign to target all London drivers. The campaign runs until 21 March 2021.
