Radio London features West Norwood

Robert Elm's Round Your Manor slot on Radio London recently featured West Norwood.  Colin Fenn, Feast coordinator, local historian and Norwood Forum committee member, gave an interview (@ 11mins, 30 secs) and also Bob Flannigan of the Friends of West Norwood Cemetery (@ 1 hour, 38mins, 30 secs).  Calls came in from local residents and from the West Norwood Free Film Festival team.  There were numerous emails read out including one from Sunil our Treasurer who wrote "It really is a great place to live with a strong community spirit."  There were also on the spot interviews and we are pleased

Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group Governing Body: paid role as Lay Member

The Lambeth CCG has placed the following advertisement for a lay member vacancy:

Could you help serve your local community by joining Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group’s Governing Body as a Lay Member?  The role will have a specific focus on audit, conflicts of interest, governance and financial management as well as serving as Vice Chair of the Governing Body.

West Norwood Town Centre Redevelopment Plan

Site 18 is the red area on the town centre map below and is split in ownership.  Lambeth Council wishes landowners to redevelop this in accordance with policy.  This policy has been arrived at over the last 10 years with extensive public consultation.  Briefly:
 

Streetworks: update

Streetworks is a unique community-led project to improve Norwood and Tulse Hill.  The project is funded by Transport for London and supported by officers at Lambeth Council.  The Norwood Forum, Tulse Hill Forum, local councillors and community groups are working together with residents, businesses, schools and road-users to design a better space, remove the one-way system at Tulse Hill and provide training and support for future local projects.

West Norwood Library / Cinema Update

At the Norwood Action Group ("NAG") AGM Picturehouse Marketing and Communications Managers were given a rough ride over the length of time the project is taking and the refusal to pay the London Living Wage.  The main updates were:

West Norwood Cemetery: help shape the next Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) bid

Over the past year or Lambeth Council, in partnership with the Friends of West Norwood Cemetery and following public consultation last summer, has developed proposals to conserve and protect the ‘magnificent’ West Norwood Cemetery for future generations. Extensive specialist surveys and consultation were carried out to develop a HLF bid which looks to:

A new service to provide free birthday cakes to families in Lambeth who would find it difficult to provide a birthday cake for their child. Its a free, friendly and confidential service. Volunteer bakers are also sought.
