Rathbone Youth Club - Sessional youth workers needed

Rathbone Youth Club, based at the Old Library on Knights Hill, has been successful in getting a grant from the Home Office Anti-Knife Crime Community Fund.  As a result they are recruiting sessional youth workers to be based in West Norwood.

Nature Vibezzz need help to research Knights Hill Wood and Tivoli Park

Nature Vibezzz has been awarded a grant from the National Heritage Lottery to create a Memories, Heritage and Community of Knights Hill Woods and Tivoli Park project and as part of the project they are looking to research the historic and natural heritage of the site and are looking for people to share their memories of Knights Hill Woods, Tivoli Park and the local area.

Station to Station update

Station to Station is the Business Improvement District (“BID”) for West Norwood and Tulse Hill.  Formed in July 2016 the BID has the aim of improving the local area and is funded and run by local businesses, with a small part time team managing its projects. They have a number of projects on the go and below is a quick update on a few of them.  
 

Fest Norwood round up

Fest Norwood drew to a close on 12 August with the final event courtesy of West Norwood Free Film Festival and their special festival screening of Phantom Thread at Volcano Coffee Works Café.
 
The festival ran over 10 days and featured more than 70 events, most of which were completely free. Celebrating the return of South London Theatre to its new, Heritage Lottery funded refurbished home at the Old Fire Station, the festival equally showcased much of the incredible breadth of arts, culture and physical activities across West Norwood.
 

London Fire Brigade: Fire Cadets Programme

London Fire Brigade has launched the Fire Cadets Programme for up to 16 young people – with the help of adult volunteers – in West Norwood from September 2018. You can recommend a young person or contact them about volunteering as an adult.

Fest Norwood, Wonder and the Norwood Forum

West Norwood’s brand new fringe style Arts Festival ‘Fest Norwood’ starts on 3 August for 10 (hopefully) glorious sunny days (3 – 12 August 2018).

Inspired by the return of the South London Theatre to its Heritage Lottery funded refurbished home in the Old Fire Station, the Fest Norwood programme features a huge variety of events and activities, many of them free, and all of them showcasing the very best that inspires our West Norwood community – and everyone is welcome.

Lammy Awards: health and care support

Launched by NHS Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) in 2015, the Lammy Awards are health and care awards set up to recognise people they seek to recognise NHS and council staff, health and care teams and individuals who live and work in the borough of Lambeth.

Veolia clean up

On 26 June 2018 Norwood Forum met representatives from Veolia: Jason Prentis (Communications, Education and Outreach) and Tony Cullip (Operations Manager) to discuss a list of environmental issues identified by Norwood Forum through a series of walkabouts.

Rathbone Youth Club - Summer events

As some of you may remember at the AGM of the Norwood Forum there was an award given to support an outing to London for the youth club.  About fifteen young people will be taken to London to visit a number of sites including the Tower of London, the Shard and the South Bank.  The outing will be part of Rathbone's Summer programme running from 23 July to 31 August and there will other activities including sports and recreation, youth clubs, art and music, and a sports day with other local youth groups.  Any young personaged from 11 to 19, and up to 25 for young people with additional needs,
