West Norwood Health & Leisure Centre: swimming pool

Due to a leaking roof the swimming pool at the West Norwood Health & Leisure Centre has been closed for over a week. At the time of writing the staff are hoping Lambeth Council would inspect and perhaps repair the damage this week and the swimming pool could reopen next week. We hope the timeline will not be longer than this. On a positive note the gym remains open and has appropriate social distancing measures in place. Lesiure and gym facilities remain open under the government High COVID-19 alert level.

West Norwood Picturehouse indefinite closure

Helen Hayes MP has written to the CEO of Cineworld Cinemas attacking the decision to close the West Norwood Picturehouse, The Ritzy, East Dulwich Picturehouse and all other cinemas in her constituency from Thursday 8 October, with just four days’ notice and no staff consultation. The letter highlights the local anger at this decision and its impact on the local cultural scene and the staff affected, asking the CEO to work harder to keep our local cinemas open and protect jobs. See Helen's Facebook page for reaction. See also our earlier story here.
