Norwood Bus Garage wins Gold!

The Norwood Bus Garage on Ernest Avenue won Gold at the 2019 UK Bus Awards! Arriva London South won the award for top London Garage in recognition of “best practice, high quality staff and outstanding standards of customer service in the industry”. The team at Norwood, is described as “continually striving for excellence and having recently undergone a transformation programme to help improve operational performance, it has a strong focus on the development of its colleagues and the whole team works closely with the local community.”

Crystal Palace Festival 2020

The dates have been announced for the 2020 volunteer-powered, hugely creative and fun Crystal Palace Festival. The festival is completely reliable on volunteers and monthly volunteer meet ups have been organised so you can get involved.

The Advocacy Academy

The Advocacy Academy is a transformational Social Justice Youth Organising Movement for young people from South London who are passionate about creating a more fair, just and equal society. It’s the only one of its kind in the UK, but follows in the footsteps of a long line of youth movements who have changed the world.The deadline for applications to the class of 2021 at the Advocacy Academy is Midnight on Sunday 9 February.

Your commitment will include three school holiday residential retreats and every Friday evening from September – January in Brixton.

Crystal Palace International Film Festival

The film festival returns with:

Local police meetings: January – March 2020

The Metropolitan Police have made further changes to a number of the planned local meetings, and the following updated information is taken mostly from the three Safer Neighbourhood Team websites today (23 January).

These meetings are an opportunity to raise issues informally with our local police teams - at public meetings and drop in sessions over the coming weeks. If you are not sure which ward you live in, click on the following links (which will take you to a ward map):

Lambeth Country Show - book your pitch soon

Bookings recently opened for sites at this summer’s Lambeth Country Show, which will be held in Brockwell Park on the weekend of Saturday18 and Sunday 19 July 2020.

Traders, caterers, charities and community groups must book by 4pm on Friday 14 February 2020.

Musical acts, entertainers and other performers have until Friday 28 February 2020.

Energy Efficiency

What’s the best way to save energy at home, and reduce your energy bills? Are you experiencing Fuel Poverty? How does energy saving help the environment?

The Sustainability Team are running a series of free drop in sessions to answer Lambeth residents’ questions around energy at home.

During the session, the Team will discuss Fuel Poverty (where more than 10% of the household budget is spent on energy), provide some top tips on how to have a more comfortable, energy efficient home, and cut energy bills while helping the environment.
