Your views on the future of London's green spaces

Parks are essential. They can be wonderful. During lockdown, they were our places of freedom. Covid-19 has focused us again on the value of local communities and the role of the park in everyone’s life. Both have been transformed from 'nice-to-have' into critical resources. As part of the London Festival of Architecture programme, this project will reimagine the future of London's green spaces as places to exercise, socialise, relax and enjoy in safety.

Lambeth TechAid: volunteers sought

Lambeth TechAid is a grassroots, unpaid group of volunteers. Their aim is to help address the digital divide in their borough by collecting and restoring unwanted smartphones, tablets, laptops and all-in-one computers, and providing them to people in need through local schools and community organisations.

Paxton Green Timebank - volunteers sought

Paxton Green are a time bank charity that work with in Southwark and Lambeth. Participants ‘deposit’ their time in the bank by giving practical help and support to others and are able to ‘withdraw’ their time when they need something done themselves.

Age UK- volunteers sought for befriending calls

Age UK Lambeth are an independent local charity working in the community to support older people, their families and carers. COVID-19 has unfortunately affected the older community particularly, leaving many feeling sad and alone. Therefore, Age UK Lambeth are looking for over 20 volunteers to enable friendly 30 minute phone calls to some of Lambeth’s most isolated residents, helping them feel connected, reducing levels of anxiety and bringing joy to them and to you as a volunteer. 

Kinetika Bloco: volunteer accountant sought

The Kinetika Bloco is a performance group with an exuberant mix of young brass and woodwind players, drummers, steel pan and dynamic dancers. Their mission is to get young people, aged 8-25 years old, from South London engaged in creative activity advancing their education, skills, and capacity.

Rathbone Society - volunteers sought

Rathbone Society is an organisation that supports people with learning disabilities and young people through promoting independence and life skills, supporting people to try new things and creating opportunities for people to come together.

West Norwood Cemetery Draft Regulations: consultation

Lambeth Council has already updated the Cemetery Regulations for the Lambeth and Streatham Cemeteries, and has now produced a draft of the intended Regulations for the West Norwood Cemetery. Norwood Forum is hosting this public consultation in order to give local residents the opportunity to comment on the proposed regulations.

Weeds v Urban Plants?

Lambeth has just announced it will delay the phasing out of glyphosate spraying on our streets until October 2021. The reason given is that the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that they have had to delay the procurement work related to this service by six months.
