Norwood Forum has received an update (dated 5 September 2019) on progress with the works to renew the water mains along Norwood Road. Some 338m of the planned 840m of new 600mm Ductile Iron trunk main has now been installed via an open cutting.
We are pleased that the traffic management trial at the junction with Chatsworth Way has been removed as this caused much traffic congestion, the closure of a pedestrian crossing and the closure of two more southbound bus stops (opposite the Salvation Army and B&Q). But it is not clear whether this trial will proceed with some adjustments or not. We pointed out to Thames Water that this trial had meant there were no southbound bus stops from north of the south circular all the way to Robson Road, and trust this will not be repeated. The importance of availability of bus stops and the lack of information being provided was raised at our July public meeting; it is therefore disappointing that these temporary closures were made.
