Lambeth Council is inviting residents and businesses to have their say on plans to extend a borough-wide Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) aimed at tackling alcohol-related antisocial behaviour.
The existing borough-wide order, due to expire in October 2026, gives council and police officers powers to require people to surrender alcohol when their drinking in public spaces is associated with antisocial behaviour. Those who refuse can face fines or prosecution.
The council says street drinking continues to affect residents, businesses and public spaces, with concerns including intimidation, aggressive begging, littering and risks to vulnerable individuals.
Extending the order would allow the council and police to continue using these powers to address alcohol-related antisocial behaviour in public places.
Residents and businesses can share their views through Lambeth Council's consultation, which closes on Thursday 15 October 2026.
