The next stage of the Brockwell Park to Gipsy Hill Healthy Route, part of Cycleway 17, has been delayed following Thames Water leaks around the Rosendale Road and Park Hall Road junction.
The remaining works include resurfacing the junction, but the council needs confirmation from Thames Water that its infrastructure has been fully repaired and that the weight and vibration from resurfacing machinery will not cause further damage or leaks.
London Buses must also approve the planned traffic diversion arrangements before the works can go ahead. The council says this is to ensure the work can be carried out safely while minimising disruption to residents, businesses and public transport users.
The delay means the final stage of the Healthy Route will now extend into the new school term. Once the outstanding issues have been resolved, the council says it will confirm the resurfacing dates with residents, businesses and other stakeholders.
The council has acknowledged the frustration caused by the continued uncertainty and says it is working with Thames Water and London Buses to resolve the issues and complete the works.
