Are you a chef or cook looking to offer your spare time to volunteer for a local homelessness charity?
What will I be doing?
- Regular volunteering to lead or help Companions and staff to prepare, cook, and serve a hot lunch and/or dinner for between 30 – 40 people
- Share knowledge and experience – work together as part of a team to help provide nutritious, healthy and delicious food
- Contribute towards recipes and meal planning
- Help organise and store food donations and Fareshare deliveries – support efforts to improve sustainability and reduction of food waste
- Washing up, tidying and cleaning the kitchen
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety certificate will be required, but this course can be offered as part of the volunteer role.
What you’ll get out of volunteering:
- Become part of a community, you’ll make lots of new friends and see the difference you make towards Emmaus SLC
- Experience volunteering for a homelessness organisation, supporting our goals to help people overcome homelessness, poverty and social exclusion
- Full training and induction: we’ll always make sure you’re fully equipped for the tasks you’re involved in and feel comfortable doing them.
- Strengthen your skills and share your experience in Food hygiene, cooking and kitchen management
- Travel expenses and meals provided
