Kingswood Arts is calling on local residents to roll up their sleeves and lend a hand at its weekly Community Kitchen evenings, held every Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm at the historic Kingswood House in SE21.
The initiative, which serves up freshly prepared meals in a warm, inclusive setting, has become a cherished part of the community calendar - but organisers say they’re in urgent need of volunteers to help both in the kitchen and with general support.
“We’d love to welcome more people from West Norwood and the surrounding area to join us,” says a spokesperson for Kingswood Arts. “Whether you're a keen cook or just happy to serve, chat, or clear up, your help would make a real difference.”
This coming Tuesday 29 July, the team is hoping for a strong local turnout - and they’re extending a special invitation to Norwood Forum readers and contributors to come along, lend a hand and get a taste of the evening themselves. On the menu? A comforting homemade lasagne, served up alongside conversation and connection.
Volunteers typically help with meal prep, laying tables, serving, or chatting with guests. No prior experience is necessary - just a willingness to contribute to a welcoming, community‑spirited evening.
Those who attend on the 29 July will also have the opportunity to meet the organisers and learn more about how Kingswood Arts is using food and hospitality to build connections in the local community. Attendees are also encouraged to spread the word to neighbours, networks and local forums.
