Cycling

Norwood Forum’s transport campaign is about making it easier, safer and greener for everyone to move around our neighbourhood - whether you’re walking, cycling, taking the bus or using the train. Cycling should be a safe and practical way to get around Norwood - but residents have told us the current infrastructure doesn’t support that. People want safe, joined-up cycle routes, better bike parking (especially for cargo and adapted bikes) and more accessible e-bike and cycle hire options.

Norwood Forum is calling for:

  • A safe and connected cycling network, including improvements at junctions
  • More secure and inclusive bike storage - including for adapted and cargo bikes
  • Expansion of cycle hire schemes, such as Santander bikes and the Bon Velo ‘ourbike’
  • Clear timelines and updates on Healthy Routes like Rosendale Road and Norwood Road
  • Better managed and more frequent designated parking zones for e-hire bikes near key amenities

We’re pressing local authorities and transport providers to prioritise investment and planning that reflects the real demand for safe, inclusive cycling options in Norwood.
