National Garden Scheme: 19 & 38 Lovelace Road, SE21

On Sunday 22 June 2025, from 11.30am to 5pm, two enchanting private gardens on Lovelace Road in Dulwich - 19 Lovelace Road and 38 Lovelace Road - will open their gates as part of the National Garden Scheme. For a combined admission fee of £8 (children enter free), visitors can explore both gardens and enjoy light refreshments.

38 Lovelace Road, SE21 8JX
This charming garden welcomes you with an elegant all-white front, while the back creates an illusion of endless space. Curving borders overflow with a mix of roses, delphiniums, foxgloves, and unusual plants suited for both sun and shade, complemented by a tranquil, hosta-lined stream. Mature Japanese acers, a Holm oak, and fruit trees provide structure and colour, adding depth to this hidden oasis. Thoughtfully placed seating areas offer various perspectives of the garden, making it a peaceful haven for both people and wildlife.

19 Lovelace Road, SE21 8JY
Discover this artist’s garden, a tranquil south-facing space where art and nature unite. At the front, a mosaic of junipers, euonymus, and hebes creates a colourful welcome. The back garden features wide borders with a rose arch, rose and blackberry hedging, and bee-friendly flowers. A pond teems with wildlife, and a veranda supports the growth of tomatoes, cucumbers, and lemons, enhancing the garden's wildlife-friendly atmosphere.

Both gardens are within walking distance of Tulse Hill and West Dulwich stations. No advance booking is required - just drop in and enjoy these hidden gems.
