Lambeth Council has announced that every child whose application was submitted on time has been offered a reception place for September 2025. This marks the 14th consecutive year that over 96% of families have received an offer at one of their preferred schools.
This year, 82.89% of applicants secured their first-choice school, while 8.19% received their second choice. In total, 96.18% of applicants were offered a place at one of their preferred schools. The council received 2,122 applications for primary school places.
Cllr Ben Kind, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, acknowledged the challenges faced by schools, including funding pressures, lower birth rates and outward migration from London. Despite these issues, he praised the borough's schools for continuing to provide excellent education and offering a wide choice of school types.
The admissions process is coordinated through the pan-London system, linking Lambeth with other London authorities and surrounding councils, ensuring a smooth application experience for families.
