Transport for London (TfL), in partnership with Lambeth Council, will begin major improvement works on the A23 Streatham Hill corridor this summer. The £24 million project aims to enhance road safety and support greener, more accessible travel by introducing new pedestrian crossings, protected cycle lanes, improved bus lanes and widened pavements. Construction will begin in phases, with completion expected by spring 2027.
As highlighted in our recent article, the scheme has been shaped by community engagement and reflects a broader ambition to make Streatham Hill more welcoming and user-friendly for residents, commuters and visitors alike.
In parallel, Lambeth Council has confirmed that the Streatham Wells Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) - which was suspended in December 2023 - will not return in its previous form. Temporary filters will be permanently removed, and double yellow lines added to affected roads.
Together, these changes represent a significant step in reimagining how people move through and experience the Streatham area, aligning with the Mayor of London’s goals for safer, healthier and more sustainable streets.
