A Christmas gift list has been put together by Lambeth Council so local people can help sanctuary-seeking children in the borough get the chance to enjoy some festive seasonal cheer.
The aim is to raise 330 gifts for children in the Homes for Ukraine, Resettlement, No Recourse to Public Funds and Asylum Seekers schemes from a gift list which has been set up online at amazon.co.uk.

Cllr Timothy Windle, Lambeth’s joint Cabinet Member for Healthier Communities, said: “As a proud Borough of Sanctuary, we are committed to welcoming those affected by forced migration— whether asylum seekers, refugees, or others seeking safety.”
“With your help, we can make this Christmas truly magical for every child who calls Lambeth home. Any help given will be very warmly appreciated.”
This year the council is looking to secure 330 gifts and there are three events planned for the children in December when they will receive the donated presents from Father Christmas. So please order your gift by 9 December.
Thanks to the kindness and support of generous local residents and local charities Lambeth Sanctuary Services have given nearly 800 Christmas gifts to sanctuary-seeking children over the last two Christmases.
Lambeth has been officially recognised by a national charity as a place that welcomes and values the contribution of refugees, migrants and those seeking sanctuary. The council secured its Borough of Sanctuary status in 2022 from the City of Sanctuary UK organisation which is working to build a more welcoming UK for people forced to flee their homes.
