Mambista - The Latin, African & Jazz Dance Party with Bukky Leo & the Afrobeat Quintet and DJ Gerry Lyseight  (ex-GLR/BBC London, Mambo Inn, Mango Landin’).

Bukky Leo grew up in Lagos, Nigeria and played with the great Fela Kuti where the seeds of Afrobeat were being sown. After sometime in the band, and under the influence of Tony Allen, Bukky decided to follow his journey with his own distinct style of Jazz and Afrobeat. He was one of the forerunners of the Acid Jazz scene. His first release 'Rejoice in Righteousness' was at the heart of the Acid Jazz world. It went straight to number one in the Rhythm and Blues, Dance and Jazz charts. 

This will be the last Mambista at The Portico until October 2024 as  the Mambista moves to Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses for the annual Summer sojourn.
