There has been much concern over the considerable traffic delays along the main A23 through Streatham town centre, and the resultant extensive delays to bus journeys. Much commentary in recent weeks has blamed the implementation of the Streatham Wells LTN in October 2023.
Lambeth Council has announced today (7 March 2024) the suspension of the Streatham Wells Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) trial in response to these concerns and also the anticipated disruption from planned Transport for London (TfL) construction works on the A23 which will start later this spring.

Whilst the LTN was not on our patch, and the problems along the A23 are far more serious, we were concerned at the knock-on impact on our neighbouring roads including Leigham Court Road and roads leading off to the east into Knight's Hill ward. We also considered that the 315 bus could be delayed by queuing traffic at St. Leonards church - which is the case in our experience. We received no substantive reply on these issues (raised initially December 2022), and so will write to the Council to raise these again and ask what monitoring is in place at the roads concerned.
