Mambista - The Latin, African & Jazz Dance Party - returns to The Portico Pleasure Palace after a summer spent hosting some very special events in Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses.

Simo Lagnawi aka the Ambassador of Gnawa Culture in the UK & charismatic creator and leader of Gnawa Blues All Stars. Simo and Gnawa Blues All Stars play traditional Gnawa (sacred trance music from Morocco) incorporating elements of blues, jazz, reggae & afrobeat with infectious, irresistible energy.

Simo has been featured on BBC World service, BBC Proms, CNN World, BBC Radio 3, Vox Africa as well as many festivals including Glastonbury, Womad, Secret Garden Party, Latitude, Boomtown et al, plus many international shows throughout Europe, North Africa and the US. 

Gnawa Blues All Stars continuously pushes new boundaries fusing Gnawa with music from countries such as Gambia, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Guinea, Mali, India, Japan, Venezuela and the Caribbean.

DJ Gerry Lyseight has hosted some of London’s most legendary club nights, including the legendary Mambo Inn.

8:00pm: 8bar dance class led by Ned Smith, followed by DJ Gerry Lyseight and Gnawa Blues All Stars.
