Age UK Lambeth is launching their ‘Good Deed Advent calendar’ Christmas campaign and are asking the local community to join them in making the festive period more joyful for hundreds of older people in Lambeth who find this time of year to be challenging and often lonely.

 

Whats happening at the moment in London...

• 44% of older Londoners living in social housing are in poverty

• Older Londoners are 50% more likely to be experiencing food insecurity than those in the rest of England (12% compared with 8%) 

 

With the ongoing effects of the pandemic coupled with the sharp increase in the cost of living, AgeUK needs your support more than ever to continue their work throughout Lambeth.Their services are incredibly important all year round, but particularly during the Christmas period, when feelings of loneliness and isolation are increased by TV shows and adverts depicting bustling families and merriment.

 

In 2021/2022, 76,881 people were helped. From helping them source housing,welfare benefits and food supplies, to organising hundreds of MYsocial events across the year, to pairing up clients with a befriending volunteer to tackle loneliness.
