Many people in our local community will want to make a donation to the people of Ukraine. If you’d like to help, the Mayor of London advises that the most effective action you can take is to make a financial donation.
An appeal has been launched by the UK's Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) to help the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians fleeing their country. Fifteen UK aid agencies - including the British Red Cross, Oxfam and Save the Children - are joining together to ask the public to donate. Public donations to the appeal will be doubled by the UK government, up to a total of £20m.
You can read more about the DEC appeal and make a donation here.
Also, the Mayor of London has published a list of charities providing life-saving aid in Ukraine and surrounding countries which urgently need donations.
We have also seen from social media that some local collection points have been set up to send particular items to Ukraine.
