Urban & Provincial, on behalf of Southwark Metals, have made further amendments to the Windsor Grove and related Shakespeare Wharf, Herne Hill planning applications.
As a reminder the Windsor Grove application (for the site at the end of the road, opposite the Post Office Sorting Office) is for:
- Demolition of all existing buildings and structures and the provision of a new building and associated hard and soft landscaping in respect of the use of the site as a metal recycling and management facility.
The related Shakespeare Wharf application is to remove the safeguarding of that waste site so it can be redeveloped with 217 new homes.
The developers have now posted 407 further pages of evidence on the Lambeth Planning portal here; to view enter the reference: 20/01066. This necessitates a fresh round of public consultation, because:
- A reduction of throughput capacity from 35,000 tonnes per annum to 25,000 tonnes per annum is now proposed.
- Additional technical information on transport and air quality is provided.
- Further information and evidence has been provided under Regulation 25 of the EIA Regulations, including an ES Review Response Table and a Windsor Grove Capacity Change Technical Note.
If you have previously objected to the proposal, you should have received a formal consultation letter from Lambeth Council (probably by email). Norwood Action Group are currently analysing the documents, and we hope to give further advice in due course on how the local community can best respond to this latest development – effectively a third application and which will have devastating consequences for our community if approved.
The planning department states that comments are required by 29 May 2021.
As Open Orchard have publicised, the nearly one acre Windsor Grove site has been cleared of mature trees and vegetation, and Thames Water have now cut back mature trees to carry out works to the main sewer despite the bird nesting season.
