#HelpLondonsHomeless

Today, temperatures in London have continued below freezing, and the Mayor of London has written on his passion about ending homelessness in our city. He says:

"- - - there is some good news:

  • Since the pandemic hit, a world-leading effort by our local government and charities have helped over 6,000 homeless people into COVID-safe accommodation – including more than 1,700 in hotels funded by City Hall.
  • We’ve also supported over 3,000 people to move on from emergency accommodation so that they don’t end up back on the streets.
  • We are still making COVID-safe hotel accommodation available, prioritising those with special health needs, and are making rapid testing available.
  • And we are opening severe weather accommodation for when temperatures drop below freezing, like today and tomorrow.

As temperatures continue to plummet, we will continue to do everything possible to help London’s homeless. But we need your help too. If you’d like to help, please support the work of our charity partners, who are doing urgent and essential work to keep rough sleepers safe."
