Norwood Forum is proud to announce that we are the winners of the 2026 Lambeth ClimaLab award. In a highly competitive process, the Forum has been granted £2,500 for a balcony solar project.
Plug-in balcony solar panels present an opportunity for small-scale, affordable renewable energy for all. Approved by government only in August of this year, and costing from as little as £300, they make solar power an option for renters, people living in flats and homeowners who cannot afford a full rooftop solar installation.
Under our Green Norwood initiative, the Forum plans to donate and install balcony solar panels in the homes of four of our community members on low incomes. Not only would these individuals or families save energy and money, we also plan to tell the stories of their experiences, so that we all have the chance to learn about balcony solar.
We are asking local community groups to nominate households who live in our locality, are on a low income, have a suitable secure and sunny space, and are willing to help make their own ‘case study’. The ClimaLab grant will cover the cost of the panel and installation by a trusted local electrician.
We ask community groups to make their nominations via this form. The Forum will ensure a fair and transparent selection process.
The deadline for nominations is 7th January.
ClimaLab supports local organisations to tackle the climate crisis and build a fairer, healthier Lambeth. Lambeth Climate Day was organised by Integrate and took place at the Town Hall on 3rd October. 13 Lambeth organisations made their pitches to a panel of funders. Norwood Forum’s project was deemed to be the most practical and best able to deliver benefits not only to a few people but indirectly to our whole community.
