“I am proud to have pioneered bringing Repair Cafés to Parliament and to have hosted all three of the Parliamentary Repair Cafés to date, including the most recent one in March, organised by the Restart Project and Backmarket. The event saw repair café staff and volunteers from across the country come to Parliament to showcase the benefits of reuse and repair for MPs and promote the circular economy. Many MPs and parliamentary staff were able to benefit from having small electrical items repaired on the day.”
“Repair cafes provide a brilliant service to local residents and save thousands of items from landfill. There are also skilled jobs in the repair sector, so repair and reuse really does deliver triple benefits.”
I am proud to be the 100th MP to sign the Reuse and Repair Declaration which seeks to secure a right to repair and ensure that easy repairs are built the design of consumer products. This is essential for the environment and for reducing costs for consumers”
Helen Hayes, MP for Dulwich and West Norwood
