Thames Water have provided the following update on the ongoing works and temporary bus stops in Rosendale Road:
“On 9 January at the junction of Chestnut Road our site team uncovered a damaged gas pipe located across the existing water pipe. To protect the safety of residents and our employees our team stopped work immediately and contacted SGN { the UK gas distribution company}. Due to its proximity to the existing water pipe, the gas pipe’s repair poses a number of challenges which we are now working with SGN to resolve.
Our team are also carrying out a series of trial holes to determine the feasibility of relocating the replacement water pipe as a contingency. Though these next steps are yet to be agreed, we should have a better idea of any proposed solution this week following continued meetings with SGN.”
Thames Water also advise this delay is likely to have some impact on our scheduled completion date in June 2020, and have promised an update on this once the position is clear.
On the delays with installing the Rosendale Road temporary bus stops, Thames Water advise:
“We are also working with TfL to ensure all temporary bus routes are in place to mitigate the impact of directional closures. To this end and in agreement with Lambeth Council’s highways team, we are setting up pedestrian barriers to prevent cars continuing to be parked in suspended areas on Rosendale Road, which has to this point delayed the installation of four temporary bus stops.”
Again an update is promised and we will publish the further information as soon as we receive it.
The existing work plans can be seen here in our earlier article.
