Five heatwaves, a record-dry July – climate change is already affecting our community.

We've experienced five heatwaves this summer. Last month was the driest July since records began in 1836. Fossil fuel-driven climate change is already having visible effects on the world. The Earth is warming, rainfall patterns are changing, and sea levels are rising. These changes can mean more heatwaves, drought and flooding, all of which could impact on our community.

The level of climate change we will see depends on how quickly we cut emissions of dangerous greenhouse gasses. Even if we were to stop all emissions today, we would not prevent some changes. However, the sooner we cut emissions, the smaller the changes will be.

There is a lot of small and slightly bigger things that we all can do to make a difference. For our children and grandchildren, and to adapt to our changing world.
