Southwark Metals has now submitted its planning application for the new metal recycling building at Windsor Grove SE27 9NT (next to the Royal Mail Sorting Office). You can access the full details of the application on the Lambeth Planning Portal here (there are 56 supporting documents); enter the reference: 20/01066:
Demolition of all existing buildings and structures and the provision of a new building and associated hard and soft landscaping in respect of the continued use as metal recycling and management facility.
See also our earlier story posted on 9 December 2019 here.
At this stage, we would draw attention to the following changes and important issues within the application:
- No limit on truck size is proposed, so these could be the largest trucks allowed on UK national roads
- The travel plan to use Elder Road as the primary access route can only be advisory on anyone other than employees of Southwark Metals
- Up to 220 vehicle movements per day (in and out) are proposed; the impact on Windsor Grove and Norwood High Street only has been analysed.
Now the application has been published we will be considering the best way to make our opposition heard. Please sign the petition to stop Southwark Metals moving to Windsor Grove, and encourage others to sign as well.
