Norwood Forum is looking for enthusiastic individuals who want to help make Norwood an even greater place to live in. Our tag-line is ‘Connecting the Community’ and whether you have never volunteered before, have loads of experience, or only recently begun helping your neighbours during Covid-19, we are interested in your fresh ideas, perspectives and skills as we develop their volunteer committee in 2021.
Culture and Creativity, History and Heritage, the Environment and Sustainability, Health and Wellbeing - the Forum is involved in projects across all of these areas, and much, much more. Would you like to find out more?
Age UK – phone friends
Age UK Lambeth is an independent local charity working in Lambeth to offer support and services to older people.
As Covid and this long winter continue relentlessly, Age UK are still actively recruiting for volunteers. Whether you would like to volunteer to have a 'phone friend' and be matched with an elderly member of the community to have a weekly conversation that will help and reduce isolation and loneliness, or you have some extra time and would like to help elderly members of the community who may be shielding or isolating - whatever way you may able to help, they would love to hear from you.
Black Gay Ink – web designer
Black Gay Ink is a creative writing development scheme for emerging Black gay writers. Originally launched in 2017, the scheme was a huge success and is now focussing on ‘Black Gay Ink: Coming out from Lockdown’, aimed at encouraging a sense of wellbeing after a period of lockdown and creating a safe space for Black gay men to learn more about positive personal and professional development. The scheme delivers wellbeing workshops and career development workshops, alongside creative writing activities, culminating in a new writing digital showcase event championing new writing from Black gay men.
Still growing steadily, Black Gay Ink are looking for someone, working from home for a couple of hours a week, who can help them set up a website. Of course, it is important that the volunteer is LGBTQI+ or LGBTQI+ friendly – can you help?

Lambeth TechAid - various
Lambeth TechAid is a local charity helping Lambeth residents by cleaning and clearing tech donations from the community in order to supply smart phones, tablets and computers to children and adults who would not otherwise be able to obtain them.
Lambeth TechAid is proud to be a group of diverse and talented volunteers helping to bridge the digital divide by supplying devices to those who need them most. They aim to reflect the diverse community of Lambeth and therefore are especially interested in applications from those in black and ethnic minority groups, the LGBTIQ community and those with disabilities. Can you help with any of the current vacancies?:
Hub Assistant | 2-4 hours a week | Monday - Wednesday:
The Lambeth TechAid Hub in Brixton takes in donations and works on devices. They are looking for someone to assist the tech team in the hub for a few hours a week, by preparing and cleaning devices ready for collection and delivery. The role isn't technical, however some basic computer skills are required.
Volunteer Assistant | 2-3 hours a week:
They are looking for a volunteer with experience in HR and employment legislation to support our management volunteers, helping to ensure safe and secure procedures. This role can be done flexibly from your home.
Fundraising Assistant | 5-6 hours a week:
Do you have fundraising and bid writing experience? This role will help to support the ambitions of the trustees, and can be done flexibly from home.
Rathbone Youth Club – learning mentors
Rathbone works with disadvantaged young people who are struggling at school and need extra support with their learning. They are looking for volunteers who can commit an hour a week for at least six months to help a student – between Y7 and Y11– with their homework and/or revision in one subject, for example English (many students come from households where English is not the first language), Maths, History or Science. Study support sessions are online, with a parent or guardian on site with the child, usually outside school hours.
The current pandemic has put additional pressure on the lives and education of the young people. If you could spare an hour a week to help a child keep up with their learning, Rathbone Youth Centre would like to hear from you.
Westbury’s Chemist – Covid vaccination marshals
Westbury Chemist on Streatham High Road are continuing to vaccinate our most vulnerable residents for Covid-19.
They are hoping to cover two five-hour shifts every day, including weekends. Volunteers will help to ensure the safe flow of the people being vaccinated from the time they arrive to the time they leave - checking patients are on the appointment list, checking temperatures, reassuring patients and preparing them for the vaccination room. One volunteer will relieve the others for short breaks, make sure that patients leave safely with details of their vaccine batch on vaccination cards that will be given by the injectors.
Shifts will be 8am-1pm and 1pm-7pm every day, including weekends. PPE will be provided. Social distancing will be managed. If you can help, please indicate shifts that you can do ALL of, not any of - i.e. please only tick three shifts if you can do all three shifts. Experience has informed Westbury's that one sure shift is more helpful that half a dozen possibles.
Copes Pharmacy – Covid vaccination marshals
Copes Pharmacy, 570-572 Streatham High Road, are continuing their vaccination programme.
For now, Copes need your help on weekdays, helping to ensure the safe flow of the people being vaccinated from the time they arrive to the time they leave - checking patients are on the appointment list, checking temperatures, reassuring patients and preparing them for the vaccination.
Shifts will be 9am-2pm and 2pm-7pm this week. PPE will be provided. Social distancing will be managed. Please note Copes is at the far southern end of Streatham High Road – can you help?
