Brazil launched a campaign: Sumaúma Digital Challenge, to recycle electronic goods in advance of hosting COP30. This campaign led to the collection of 200 tonnes of electronic waste in just one week, far exceeding targets.
Inspired by this, Norwood Forum highlights here corresponding efforts by Lambeth Council after the leaflet above was recently distributed to residents. The leaflet shares an important link to useful information about how and where to recycle and gives details about the environmental, health and economic benefits of recycling electronic goods, one of the fastest growing sources of waste. The leaflet also details the fire risks of including electrical items and batteries in general waste.

Vale Street Reuse and Recycling Centre in West Norwood is our local centre where electronic goods are accepted. Lambeth residents can walk, wheel or cycle to this facility and are not restricted to visit only by car (as is incorrectly advised if you follow the leaflet link above). More information including site rules, booking forms for drivers and required ID can be found here

B&Q West Norwood on Norwood Road accepts small electrical goods for recycling and several local stores also accept batteries - see the below list.
Small electrical items can also be placed in plastic bags and left on top of household recycling bins for collection, with batteries separated where possible - more info here on this. (This does not apply to Housing Estate residents sharing communal recycling bins).

Locations to recycle batteries
