Dear Supporters,
It is with deep sadness that after 55 years of serving our community, Centre 70 is closing its doors on Wednesday 17th December.
Rising costs, much reduced funding, long delays with legal aid monies, and insufficient guaranteed funding for 2026/27 have all culminated in the Board of Trustees reluctantly concluding that the only responsible option was to enter voluntary liquidation.
We know this will be a complete shock to many of you. It is devastating news - for clients of our advice and counselling services, for our amazing and dedicated staff and volunteers, and of course the wider community we serve. We are working as best we can to transfer cases to other providers and signpost clients to information and alternative support.
We also know our closure will leave a significant gap in support for the most vulnerable in our community, and as a result, there will be an increase in demand for the few remaining local advice and counselling services.
We are sorry that we were not in a position to launch an emergency appeal for our survival. In our place, we would encourage you to consider supporting other small charities delivering crucial services in our area such as Brixton Advice Centre, Lambeth & Croydon Foodbank, and community based mental health support charities such as Waterloo Community Counselling and Care to Listen.
Finally, we would like to thank you for all your generous support over the years. Centre 70 has supported thousands of people with your help, and we will come together in the new year to acknowledge and celebrate our achievements.
