If you thought that you already knew about the history of Lambeth, then prepare to think again, as Lambeth Heritage Festival returns in the flesh this September, bigger than ever and with over 50 events catering for a whole spread of interests and heritages.
After last-year’s online-only offering, the festival this year will offer a mix of in-person events alongside plenty of on-line ones for people who still prefer not to venture out or are too far away.
As ever the festival, which has been organised by Lambeth Archives and the Lambeth Local History Forum, celebrates the extraordinarily diverse history of Lambeth, both older and more contemporary, often by focusing on some of the less well-known parts of our borough’s heritage. Most of the events in the programme are free and these include talks, films, author events, theatre, exhibitions, readings, walks and workshops.
Booking for events. All online events should be booked in advance by clicking on the booking link. Many in-person events also require booking, while for others you can simply turn up; this is made clear in the description. Some booked in-person events may have to switch and be online if circumstances change; you will be notified before the event if there are changes.
The Lambeth Heritage Festival website has further information about the programme.
Unfortunately there are no Norwood based events, but there's plenty easily accessible either in person events close by or others online. We will be at the Lambeth Local History Fair on Saturday 4 September (11am-4:30pm) which will held in the vast and well-ventilated nave of St Mark’s church, Kennington. Dozens of local society stands, local history experts, bookstalls and refreshments will be on hand. We hope to see you there.
