Volunteering opportunities this week

This week:

  • Covid-19 marshalls
  • Food Bank Marshalls
  • Home cooks
  • Carpenters

Westbury Chemist and Copes Pharmacy are continuing to vaccinate Lambeth residents against Covid-19
They are hoping to cover three four-hour shifts every day, including weekends. Volunteers will help to ensure the safe flow of people being vaccinated, from the time they arrive to the time they leave - checking patients are on the appointment list, checking temperatures, preparing them for the vaccination room, and making sure that patients leave safely with their vaccination cards. Shifts will be 8am-12pm, 12pm-4pm and 4pm-8pm every day, including weekends. PPE will be provided. Social distancing will be managed.

Food Bank Marshalls – OCA Community Kitchen
OCA Community Kitchen is a local Latin American organisation that has set up a foodbank at Pedlars Acre Hall located behind the North Lambeth Area Housing Office on 91 Kennington Lane, SE11 4HQ. They work all week but host open foodbank events every Saturday.

OCA are looking for volunteers – ideally but not necessarily Spanish or Portuguese speaking – who can help with packing and organisation after a short induction session at midday and then marshalling and distribution from 3pm-6:30pm while the foodbank is open to the public. They will provide high-viz vests and gloves and have hand-sanitiser readily available. You will need to bring a mask and your own food if you need it to keep you going during the afternoon. There is plenty of cycle parking but no car parking available. Public transport to the site is good.

Comfort Food?  Calling All Cooks: AgeUK Home Cooks

Home Cooks is a service designed by MyNeighbour to support members of our local community who may not have access to a hot meal, for all sorts of reasons.

They are looking for volunteers who love cooking and can deliver a meal to someone in their local community. This could be a one-off meal, a weekly meal, every couple of weeks, even twice a week – its completely up to you to decide who you would like to cook for, and when, based on your favourite foods, your availability and where you are located. Please get in touch to find out more.
