How is Lambeth Council to be run?

Three weeks after the local elections, Lambeth Council remains in a position of no overall control and no decisions have been taken on how the Council is to be governed.
Decisions are now expected on Monday 1 June 2026.
 
We reported here on the outcome of the 7 May local election. But there have been two resignations of Green Councillors since, one due to ill health (Clapham Park Ward) and another declined to take up her seat (St. Leonard’s Ward).
By-Elections are penciled in for Thursday 2 July 2026.
 

Lambeth elects new mayor

A new Mayor of Lambeth was elected this Wednesday following a vote at Full Council. Cllr Paul Valentine is now the first Green mayor of the borough.

Welcome everyone to a fun day focused on all things green in our community:
Green spaces, green energy, green jobs and training, clean air and recycling.

At West Norwood Library & Picturehouse, we'll have stalls from a range of environmental groups working on things like solar energy, home retrofit, community gardens and clean air, friends of the parks, and eco-friendly traders.
There'll be free family-friendly activities with contests and creative fun for all - and we will also be hosting talks on renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean air, recycling and green jobs and training opportunities.

Brockwell Hall are running a four week Eco textiles workshop at Brockwell Hall. Learn how to create natural dyes from plants and use them to create printed textiles with artist Zoe Burt.
