The Upper Norwood Library Hub has received a major boost after being awarded £776,571 in National Lottery funding to support and expand its community work over the next five years.
The funding, provided by The National Lottery Community Fund - the UK’s largest community funder - will enable the Hub to further its mission of empowering local communities through a wide range of literacy, lifelong learning, and health and wellbeing activities. These programmes will be delivered both at the Hub itself and through its innovative ‘Library Without Walls’ outreach initiative.
In addition to expanding educational and wellbeing opportunities, the funding will help the organisation increase volunteering roles, offer crisis, signposting, and referral services, and provide capacity-building support to strengthen and sustain libraries through community-led models.
The National Lottery Community Fund supports organisations that bring people together, help children and young people thrive, promote environmental sustainability, and enable people to live healthier lives.
The team at Upper Norwood Library Hub has expressed gratitude for this transformative support and is inviting local residents to share their views on the Hub’s role in the community. Feedback will be gathered through a short, anonymous survey to help shape and strengthen future community-led activities.
