Open Orchard Brings New Green Space to West Norwood Station

West Norwood Train Station is looking greener than ever thanks to a new drought-tolerant garden planted on Platform 2 by local community group Open Orchard.

The vibrant new garden features over 50 plants, including a mix of herbs, grasses, shrubs, and flowers, along with a bonus crab apple tree. More than 100 spring and summer bulbs have also been planted, promising a burst of colour as the seasons change.

This project aims to enhance the station environment, providing a welcoming and sustainable green space for commuters and the local community. Open Orchard will be maintaining and caring for the garden through regular volunteer sessions, inviting residents to get involved in nurturing the newly transformed area.

Local volunteers and commuters alike are encouraged to take part, helping the garden flourish while contributing to a greener, more vibrant West Norwood.

SE27 Street Gardener
Volunteers have been planting bulbs in the de-paved beds along Norwood Road to make sure spring is full of colour along the High Street. The next SE27 Street Gardeners session will be Sunday 23 November, 10am-12pm.
