A23 Streatham Hill works

We reported last April on the plans by Transport for London (TfL), in partnership with Lambeth Council, to commence major improvement works on the A23 Streatham Hill corridor. These works will include protected cycle lanes and dedicated bus lanes in both directions. We can now give an update on these works, which are set to continue until spring 2027.

Lambeth Civic Awards 2026

Lambeth Council is inviting residents to nominate their local heroes for the Civic Awards 2026. The awards aim to recognise the incredible work that Lambeth’s community does to help others. Nominations for the seven awards categories open today 18 December and close at one minute to midnight on 25 January 2026.

Free Christmas Tree Collections from 5 January

Lambeth Council has confirmed that real Christmas trees will be collected for free across the borough from 5 January 2026. Residents can place their real trees next to their bins on their usual collection day, provided all decorations and pots have been removed.

Lambeth’s Gambling Policy 2026-29

We made representations to Lambeth Council in response to the recent proposed refresh of its Gambling Policy. The Council is required to review and adopt this policy every three years, and the next will run until January 2029.

Lambeth Warns Residents Over Dangers of Incorrect Battery Disposal

Lambeth Council has issued a warning to residents following a rise in serious fires caused by the incorrect disposal of batteries and electronic items. Lithium batteries thrown into household recycling bins have been linked to fires in refuse vehicles and waste facilities, putting frontline staff and the public at risk.

Centre 70 official announcement on its future

Centre 70 has announced it will close on 17 December after 55 years, citing rising costs, reduced funding and long delays in legal aid payments as the reasons for entering voluntary liquidation.
