£45,000 made available for South London organisations supporting pandemic recovery

A South London charity is making available a total of £45,000 in grants to organisations in Herne Hill, West Norwood, Balham, Tooting, Tulse Hill, Brixton and Streatham (postcodes SW2, SW12, SW16, SW17, SE21, SE24 and SE27).that are helping communities to recover from the impact of the pandemic.

The Thrale Almshouse Charity will donate up to £4,000 to organisations that are either promoting good health and well-being, or alleviating hardship caused by the pandemic.

Thrale runs a grant-giving programme each year for local organisations. Last year it awarded over £10,000 to projects in and around Lambeth, helping some of those most acutely affected by COVID-19. These included:
  • Faiths Together in Lambeth’s programme to train youth mental health first aiders who can support young people suffering from mental ill health
  • Lambeth Tech Aid is a group formed at the start of the pandemic, which provides internet access to highly disadvantaged groups of residents in Lambeth
  • Healthy Living Platform, which distributes parcels of healthy food to neighbourhoods where it is most needed.
Paul Lehmann, Trustee of the Thrale Charity, said: “This has been another hard year for people and communities across Brixton and South London more widely. At Thrale, we’re inspired by the amazing work that so many local organisations are doing to alleviate the worst impacts of the pandemic. If you think we can help to support your project, please do get in touch with us.”
