The annual open house weekend, throughout London. The world’s largest architecture festival, giving free public access to over 800 buildings, walks, talks and tours over one weekend in September each year.
Locally in Lambeth on Saturday you can visit (moving from north to south):
- A modern extension to a mid 20th century house: A House and a Garden, St. Faith’s Road, SE21 8JD (Saturday only 10am-5pm)
- Arguably the best of the magnificent seven Victorian Cemeteries: West Norwood Cemetery, Norwood Road, SE27. Cemetery tours start at the Main Gate every 30minutes (2-3pm); max 30 per tour (Saturday only 1-5pm)
- The internationally pre-eminent clock museum and integral workshops: Clockworks, 6 Nettlefold Place, SE27 0JW (Saturday only 10am-6pm); and
- the modern retirement flats: Cheviot Gardens, 36 Cheviot Road, SE27 0SU (Saturday only 1-5pm)
And then on Sunday:
- A botanical gem: the South London Botanical Institute, 323 Norwood Road, SE24 9AQ (Sunday, 1-5pm)
There are more than 30 properties in Lambeth open over the weekend, and more close by just over the Borough boundaries in Bromley, Southwark and Wandsworth.
