west norwood free film festival the lavender hill mob

In this proper South London Ealing Comedy classic, Alec Guinness stars as Henry Holland, a quiet bank clerk who’s spent twenty years working the same plodding shift while secretly eyeing up a massive pile of gold bullion. This is a ticketed event.

Deciding he’s had enough of the daily grind, Henry Holland teams up with a local souvenir maker played by Stanley Holloway to pull off a cheeky blag right under the noses of the authorities. The pair hatch a plan to melt down the loot and whisk it out of the country disguised as cheap Eiffel Tower trinkets. Packed with sharp wit and a chaotic chase through the familiar streets of town, The Lavender Hill Mob is a legendary caper that proves you should never underestimate a bloke from the Hill with a plan.
