Amid huge financial pressures after 14 years of austerity and structural underfunding from previous governments, and spiralling demand for vital front-line services, the council leadership has set out proposals to make savings of more than £99 million over the next four years.
The finalists for the Lambeth Civic Awards have been announced – congratulations to our local organisations and individuals who’ve been nominated, including Southside Rehab, Hive Cafe Streatham, Nature Vibezzz, the KnitWits at West Norwood Library, Youthsayers and Nicola Pastore from Solve the School Run!
Thriving Norwood, led by Norwood Forum, is a community-driven project focused on improving wellbeing in our neighbourhood. In this interview, Teresa Donoghue, the leader of the project, shares more about the exciting plans ahead for our community.
StreetWorks was a unique community-led project to improve the streetscape in West Norwood and Tulse Hill. The project was funded by Transport for London and supported by officers at Lambeth Council. Norwood Forum, Tulse Hill Forum, local councillors and community groups worked together in collaboration with residents, businesses, schools and road users to design a better public spaces. What the project never managed to achieve was the removal of the Tulse Hill Gyratory - the flagship project in this scheme - due to the financial situation changing drastically for TfL in 2019.
