In the early 1800s, Henry Maudslay opened a factory in Westminster Bridge Road, Lambeth. He invented precision engineering, which made the industrial revolution possible. His partner Joshua Field (grave 3,804, square 27), his son Joseph (grave 4,361, square 77), and his grandson Thomas Henry (grave 20,047, square 92; monument destroyed) lie at Norwood.
