Lambeth on track to plant over 1700 new trees this year

Lambeth Council celebrated National Tree Week (23 November to 1 December) by inviting primary school pupils to plant the first new trees of the planting season in Brockwell Park. Pupils from Hitherfield Primary School helped plant three new trees, the first of 92 to be planted in parks over the coming months.

The council is on track to increase the number of new trees in Lambeth by 5,000 by 2026 as part of the Lambeth Urban Forest Strategy 2023-2030  and the Lambeth Climate Action Plan. Increasing canopy cover promotes biodiversity and improves climate resilience by creating cooling shade and spaces for nature.
