We now have some detail of the Council's plan to complete the resurfacing of Norwood Road under the Streetworks programme. The final stretch: Avenue Park Road to the Tulse Hill gyratory will be undertaken overnight from Tuesday 1 August to Thursday 3 August 2023. Also, (and FINALLY!) the anti-skid surface at the Norwood Road/York Hill/ Lancaster Avenue diagonal crossing will be laid over one of these nights.
These works will inevitably require local road closures, probably along the stretch of Norwood Road from the Chestnut Road/Lansdowne Hill junction to Ullswater Road and with a wide traffic diversion for both northbound and southbound through traffic. We expect this to be via Crown Dale, Crown Lane, Leigham Court Road and Christchurch Road.
We will publish the bus diversion and traffic diversion arrangements once we have them and nearer the time.
There were originally proposals to carry out the diagonal crossing and resurfacing works at separate times, and we are pleased to see the disruption will now be kept to a minimum. The works will be undertaken by Lambeth Council's contractor Ringway.
