Lambeth Council marks first anniversary of George Floyd’s murder

Today Lambeth Council is lighting up Lambeth Town Hall in the colour purple to mark one year since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. His murder by a white police officer in the US a year ago on 25 May, 2020 sparked international protests and saw Black communities declare the fight for equality and against discrimination is far from being achieved.

Councillor Sonia Winifred, the Cabinet Member for Equalities and Culture and a local ward councillor, writes on Black Lives Matter and the local campaign for equality: Lambeth United, here on the LOVE LAMBETH website.
