Lambeth Council publishes local volunteering opportunities on a weekly basis. Here's this week's opportunities in our local area:
Age Exchange delivery
Age Exchange deliver a virtual day care service for people with dementia and their carers. The service provides support and activities to help maintain wellbeing. They are looking for volunteers to deliver activity boxes to the homes of people with dementia and their carers once a month. This is a contact free delivery service.
The delivery would happen once a month to 10 addresses and are picked up from Blackheath (SE3). You would need to either be able to drive or cycle in order to carry the boxes.

OnHand Shopping
The shopping service is operating in the whole borough, providing support to residents who are not able to leave their homes due to Coronavirus or other health reasons, but not require an emergency food package.
The time commitment is to assist with shopping one day a week.
Task: downloading a phone application (through which the service is managed), taking shopping orders, conducting shops on behalf of residents, taking a photograph of shopping receipts on delivery. Please note, this role will involve volunteers paying for residents’ shops and then being reimbursed through a simple expense process.
They require volunteers from the whole borough, but would particularly welcome more assistance from those living in the following postcode areas: SE19, SW8 and SW9.

Age UK befriending calls
Age UK Lambeth are an independent local charity working in the community to support older people, their families and carers. COVID-19 has unfortunately affected the older community particularly, leaving many feeling sad and alone. Therefore, Age UK Lambeth are looking for over 10 volunteers to enable friendly 30 minute phone calls to some of Lambeth’s most isolated residents, helping them feel connected, reducing levels of anxiety and bringing joy to them and to you as a volunteer.
In order to assist with this, please sign up to one of the training webinars below:
