Bromley Council has published plans for the regeneration of the Crystal Palace park (except the National Sports Centre, which is subject to direction by the Mayor of London). The scheme is predicated on new housing and also contains the following elements:
The relocation of the new Capel Manor College building, next to Crystal
Palace Museum
A wetland to replace the lake by the concert platform
New farm buildings
Removal of the camping site
Removal of fencing and vegetation around the intermediate lake (currently used by
anglers) will be removed
The Crystal Palace Park Trust (CPPT - see crystalpalacepark.org.uk/) is the community body established to take over Crystal Palace Park from the London Borough of Bromley. They have published a briefing on the proposals here.
The CPPT is also seeking up to five new trustees, to add to the available skills and experience in the following areas:
- Landscape maintenance.
- Contracts and finance.
- Charitable and public sector governance.
- Event management.
- Fund-raising.
- Communications.
